My name is Andy and I find solace in my garden watching plants grow from seed to maturity, wondering why certain plants thrive and others don't, and being amused by what botanicals unexpectedly show up. I love the intermingling of plant communities as they relate to a particular bioregion, human input and the cosmos.
I live in the Finger Lakes region of New York and have completed Aviva Romm's Herbal Medicine for Women curriculum and an apprenticeship program at the Northeast School of Botanical Medicine. I am grateful to the many herbalists, homesteaders, farmers and health practitioners who have shared their wisdom and knowledge through informative classes, workshops and conferences over the years.
I am here to help cultivate a relationship with plants~ allies on your healing path. I believe respectfully engaging with the plants and tapping into their wisdom benefits us, the plants and Mother Earth.
I strive to grow and use plants in remedies and formulas that are acclimated to the area in which I live and also look to native plants in your locale when considering plants that might best align with your needs.
I will only wildcraft plants that are not considered At-Risk, which are plants that have not been over-harvested to the point that extinction has become a possibility.
Althaea officinalis is commonly known as Marshmallow. It is revered for its soothing and calming qualities particularly on the mucous membranes. Althaea was one of the first plants that showed me the subtle yet powerful medicine a beautiful plant can share. It is a perennial in many climates and growing zones and the whole plant is useful.
May Althea Botanicals offer you comfort and care.
